Today we celebrate Earth Day 2024

Today we celebrate the Earth Day which is an annual event celebrated worldwide on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection and promote awareness about environmental issues. It serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our planet and taking action to address challenges such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.

Earth Day 2024

First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day has since grown into a global movement involving millions of people in over 190 countries. Each year, individuals, communities, organisations, and governments come together to participate in various activities and initiatives aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and advocating for positive change.

Earth Day activities may include tree planting, clean-up events, recycling drives, educational workshops, advocacy campaigns, and marches for environmental justice. It is also a time for reflection, as people consider the impact of their daily actions on the planet and commit to adopting more sustainable practices in their lives.

The theme for Earth Day 2024 is "Planet vs. Plastics" which highlights the importance of collaborative efforts to restore ecosystems and manage climate change. Earth Day serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental protection and may center around urgent environmental priorities, such as renewable energy transition, conservation of natural habitats, sustainable agriculture and climate change. It will also likely highlight the interconnections of global environmental issues and the need for collective action to address them effectively.
