Barbara Derecka CMIOSH, PIEMA is a director of Sustainable EHS Consulting. She is Chartered member of IOSH, Practitioner member of IEMA, she is DipNEBOSH qualified, Env Dip NEBOSH qualified and she graduated from an MBA.
As a seasoned health and safety, environmental and quality professional with 12 years of dedicated experience, she is committed to ensuring the well-being and security of individuals within various work environments. Her journey in this field has been driven by a passion for creating safer workplaces and fostering a culture of health consciousness. She has witnessed the growing urgency of addressing environmental challenges, from climate change to resource depletion. In response, she has dedicated time to developing and implementing robust environmental management strategies that prioritize sustainability across various industries.
She has worked as European HSE Manager, UK SHE Manager, Divisional HSE Manager, Head of SHE, across diverse industries including manufacturing, oil and gas, engineering, logistics, construction and chemical.
Her approach to health and safety, environmental and quality management is rooted in proactive measures, emphasizing prevention rather than reaction. By staying abreast of evolving regulations and emerging trends, she strives to implement innovative strategies that prioritize the welfare of employees and reduction of an environmental impact on the planet while also optimizing operational efficiency.
Collaboration lies at the heart of her methodology. She believes in fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders at all levels of an organization to cultivate a shared responsibility for safety. Whether through conducting training sessions, conducting site inspections, development of improvement plans or auditing, she is dedicated to empowering teams with the knowledge and tools necessary to mitigate risks effectively.

With a rich background in health and safety spanning over a decade, she has been implementing various ISO standards including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001, driven by a deep-seated commitment to excellence and continual improvement in organizational safety standards.
She leverages her expertise to guide organizations through the process of achieving ISO certification. Drawing upon her proficiency in risk assessment, policy development, and auditing, she works closely with clients to tailor ISO management systems that align seamlessly with their unique operations and objectives.
